I know that I don't really understand chess, and am even worse when it comes to playing chess on the computer, but seriously -- can someone explain this to me??? (I'm the white team)

This just proves my theory that it is literally impossible to beat the computer, no matter what.
Your computer is refusing to admit that it has been beat. In all seriousness, there is probably a bug and you should report it to the developers.
