"holy crap you love that"

This was the response I got from Owen today when I sent him a link to these lovely Disney Princess Designer Doll Collection. And holy crap, he is right! They are so lovely and sadly, so expensive. You've got to read the press release about them -- it sounds like it is going to be absolutely insane if you try to buy one! But maybe in a year or something they will come back in stock and someday when I am rich and have money to spend on pointless things I can get all 10. They are just so pretty and chic! The interpretation of Belle's dress is absolutely lovely, I die over Cinderella's carriage handbag (can you buy this anywhere please!), and I love how pretty Mulan is since usually she's normally pictured as being super hard-core (which is definitely awesome too).  Below is a sketch of all of the dolls since I can't find pictures of the real ones yet, but I can't wait to see how they all turn out!

Happy Friday everyone! No, I do not have the next photo challenge ready for you all yet sadly, but I am hoping that I will get a chance to catch a sweet bokeh shot this weekend as we head up to Salt Lake City for our first anniversary! We plan to spend the weekend up there away from our house where we have to make our bed and to the dishes :) On the agenda we've got relaxing, hitting up the pool, going to the temple (again, we loved it!), the Red Iguana, a cute little shop that sells macarons, the Pioneer Place farmers market, a drive-in movie, and spending the rest of the time just enjoying being with each other with nothing else to worry about! Hope you have a fun, enjoyable, and relaxing weekend!

I am so excited to celebrate our first anniversary! Being with Owen this past year has been incredible, and I cannot wait for all of the adventures we have in store for us in our marriage. Thank you for an amazing year Owen - I love you!

Day 15 - Someone You Love

Okay, I know, I know. I accidentally mixed up days 14 and 15 and then I totally skipped blogging this weekend. But it was a busy weekend, I promise. A weekend full of outdoor concerts (free!), frozen yogurt, temple trips, farmers markets, picture taking, target runs, Captain America, church, sleeping, and getting a heat rash. Very exciting and busy, as you can see. PLUS we just realized that our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY IS ON SATURDAY! Holy bananas! How did that come so quickly???

In any case, on to the photo of the day!

Yeah, I bet you knew THAT one was coming. Yay for our one year anniversary coming up--it seriously feels like we were married yesterday, and every day is made so much better with this guy by my side. No, not the one in the tie-dye shirt, it's that hot blond guy in the grey striped v-neck.

Here are some other photos from our adventures at our first of the Rooftop Concert Series. It was a very fun venue, and I loved that it was free! The atmosphere was quite enjoyable, and we couldn't have asked for better weather that evening. If only the music performers weren't so depressing! They had some downer lyrics in pretty much every single one of their songs, but I guys that's what the kids like these days?

miss sayde price. man, she was sure a downer. and sadly you cannot see the other side of her head, which is completely shaved off. i wonder what the growing-back process will be like for that?

and the main performer of the night, mr. joshua james. he was also pretty depressing, and swore in some of his songs/while addressing the crowd! we couldn't believe it! call me prude, but if you are going to perform in front of a group who is mostly LDS and many who have brought their kids, clean up your mouth son. 

he had a thing about raising his arms up funny whenever the photographer was going to take a picture of him. it was hilarious. 

All in all, it was a fun experience, but I think I might listen to the music of the next performing group ahead of time so I know what I am getting myself into!

Day 13 - Reminds You of Childhood

I miss playing the piano.

If we weren't poor and didn't have to pay for tuition or get me a new computer or pay for grad school applications, I would buy a piano. Also, if we didn't have to move like practically every year. Pianos are heavy. But I never thought I would miss playing as much as I do.

I have so many memories of playing the piano. I admit that not all of them are the best, like the times my mom would somehow secretly know that I didn't really practice each song three times or when I struggled learning a piece or when I just didn't feel like practicing. But I am so grateful that I stuck with it, and mostly that my mother made me stick with it. I love being able to sit down and play a piece and create beautiful music. Sadly, my skills are getting a little rusty since I haven't practiced much lately, but I am hoping to take a piano class in the winter and get right back in to shape!

It is funny thinking about marriage when you live in Provo. 96% of people are so marriage-crazy that once they get to BYU, it is the top number one priority. When I got here, I was in the 4% that wasn't racing to find a spouse. If you would have told me that I would have found my eternal companion and perfect match after one semester here, I would have laughed in your face. Of course, it took us a good year and a half to get everything figured out, which many BYU students think is too long and many non-LDS think is way too short...but I would not have traded that time for the world.

Marriage is important! It is not just important, it is potentially THE most important decision someone can make in their entire life. I don't understand how people can know after only a few short months that the person they are with is the person they want to wake up to every morning, the person who they are going to love even on their worst days, the one who they want to be with all the time no matter what. Now you may scoff at me, for I am still young and naive in marriage, but I cannot wait to experience everything life has to bring with Owen.

I think that one of the most important things to find in a spouse is someone who encourages you to be yourself to your greatest potential. Someone who shares your same dreams and priorities, does not try to change who you are (not superficial things like how to dress or a haircut, but important things), and someone who inspires you to always improve yourself. I love Owen because he doesn't think that I am crazy for wanting to go to pharmacy school or for going to gamelan practice every morning at 7 am. He knows what is important to me, and I want to pursue my dreams because he always supports me.

I love Owen because he makes me feel important.

Even on days when I fail a test or have a terrible day at work, I know that he is always cheering me on.

And for that, I will be forever grateful. Thanks Owen, you rock.

I likely would have been tempted to spend much much more on my wedding dress than any reasonable person should.

I think I secretly might like the Tiana dress a lot a lot, and the Cinderella dress is oh-so-heavenly also.

But who are we kidding? We all know I would have gone with the Belle dress. It's just who I am. And I am totally fine with it.

I'm so excited that today is your birthday, partially because for the past six months, you keep telling everyone that you were 24 already. Well, now you finally are! Except you probably will think you're 25 now. Oh well. I still love you lots and lots anyway!

And to celebrate and be super mushy because I almost never am (hehe), here are 24 reasons why I am celebrating you being in my life!

1. You smell really good! 2. Few people look as awesome in skinny jeans as you do 3. You are going to make an awesome dad and are so fun with kids (thought I think my Spanish voice for storytelling is better than yours) 4. You read and laugh at all of my blog posts, even if some of them are lame 5. You try to pronounce my physiology terms and are so hilariously off but don't care 6. You come and surprise me at work with visits 7. You love computers so much, it's actually pretty funny 8. You are the best snuggler of all time 9. You make super good pancakes 10. You like to keep a clean house too 11. But you also hate laundry as much as I do 12. You are (almost) as obsessed with Disneyland as I am, and don't mind if half of our vacations are there 13. You listen to all of my dumb stories 14. You have such a cute bum 15. You don't think that it is lame to watch Beauty & the Beast 16. You say that my cooking is actually pretty good. 17. You always compliment my nail polish and say how cute it is, even if it chips the next day 18. You are a good foot masseur (yeah, learned that word today) 19. Things I love about Fridays:

• Having lunch with my sister. Not only do I finally get to see her even though we live like three streets away from each other, I also score free lunch! Thank you Freshman Meal Plans! (and Devynne of course)
• Only 1 class + a few hours of work = I get to come home early!
• Usually I clean our house on Friday. Nothing like a clean home to get the weekend going.
• No school or work tomorrow!
• Date night :)
• Painting my nails for date night. Very important. 
• I can wear weather-inappropriate items or uncomfortable shoes because I'm only on campus and seeing people for like 4 hours.
• Ummm...did I mention that it's the weekend? Oh yeah, plus one extra day for us on Monday! (this week) Awesome!

Blame it on the fact that my dad was a chef, or whatever else you may like (including the fact that I had Cafe Rio for dinner tonight and heavenly food is just on the mind), but there are few things that are more satisfying than a delicious meal.

Which can be made even more delicious if prepared by someone else and/or if there are no dishes involved.

Which is why after our Valentines-Night-In dinner of crepes with Nutella, we left our dishes on the coffee table, and is why they are still there now. What a happy holiday.

I think another key to my heart may be finding a good deal. Does that make sense? Probably not. But for me and Owen, one of our favorite dates is to just go out and go thrifting. We both love shopping, it's really terrible. But when I score awesome deals like this coat for $11 and sweater for $4, I'd say there's nothing better.

So I tried to surprise husband this morning with a little Valentine's Day loving...

But unfortunately when I snuck out this morning at 5 am to heart attack his car all over, he somehow sensed that I was missing, woke up, didn't fall for the "light turned on in the bathroom" trick I tried to do, thought I was kidnapped, and came outside and found me in the middle of my deed.

Dang. Surprise ruined. Oh well. Happy Lovers Day anyway!
