PRETTY CUPCAKES

Here are some cupcakes I made for a recent ward activity! If you can't tell, the ones on the bottom are extra-large -- I recently bought a new jumbo cupcake pan, and...it's awesome. It makes cupcakes and muffins that are as big as the ones you get at Cocoa Bean, and they can totally be shared with one person :) The top ones are carrot cake cupcakes - I used this recipe and it totally spilled over the sides of the muffin tin! But they tasted good, I was so excited to use the tiny little pearl sprinkles I finally splurged on! For the chocolate ones I essentially totally copied this recipe (no shame) but filled them with a little frosting, and I hope they turned out delicious...I dropped them off at the dessert table, and when I turned back around they were all gone! Guess they looked nice at least! The main point of all of this is you should totally buy a jumbo cupcake pan, they are amazing!!!!!!!

Cupcakes are Cute

Here are some cupcakes I made last Friday. I gotta admit, they turned out pretty adorable. They tasted good too, which is always a plus. I used Bakerella's buttercream frosting recipe, and oh my, was it buttery and delicious! I know it's a little early for Valentine's day, but I couldn't help decorating them in pink since I got these cute sprinkles at Target -- 5 kinds for $1! Amazing!

Cupcake Schmupcake

Would you pay $2.50 for one of these?

How about this?

Cuz we did. To celebrate me being done with my terrible choral conducting midterm, we went to The Sweet Tooth Fairy and got the two cupcakes shown above -- pumpkin chocolate chip and raspberry lemonade.

I decided that these were ridiculously overpriced considering they are just a cupcake, and figured I could make my own that are just as cute! So the one picture below is from a batch I made for a Qualtrics thing last night -- not too bad for my first time piping frosting eh? Especially considering my piping method used a plastic Ziploc bag...So it's official, I'm totally over the buying cupcakes thing, and also I should open my own dang cupcake shop if they are making that kind of profit! Mine were even filled with frosting...mmm...

Though I do have to admit that the little plastic individual carrying cases they gave us for each cupcake were pretty darn cute.
